Earlier ProPublica extracts for the same EIN list Isaiah Castilla as a board member (unpaid) on prior-year officer tables.

The 2022 return describes the organization’s purpose as assisting “U.S. citizens who are people of color that are eligible to register to vote and participate in democracy” and providing technical assistance to “nonpartisan voter registration drives.” That is the filer’s language. Chair of a 501(c)(3) voter-registration nonprofit is a documented officer role. It is not a finding that the drives were partisan. It is not a crime. Influence Watch’s Castilla person page, which cites LinkedIn, is labeled commentary elsewhere and is not used here as proof of the chair title. The 990 is.

Chair. One hour a week on the 990. Unpaid as filed. A voter-registration (c)(3) that writes “people of color” into the purpose line and “nonpartisan” into the next sentence. Readers can read both. The chair’s name is on the return. That is the fact. Motive stays out.
