The 2015 Professional Women in Advocacy Annual Conference speaker page lists Isaiah Castilla as Advocacy Programs Counsel at Alliance for Justice. Session: November 17, 2015, “Workshop 4: Are non-profits allowed to advocate?” The page says that before AFJ he was a “founding member of The Castilla Law Group, P.L.L.C.,” with a caseload of “civil and criminal matters” and work “with non-profits on political advocacy and development.” As a law student it lists a clerkship for the Mississippi Attorney General’s office at the Department of Transportation and an externship to Associate Justice Jess Dickinson of the Mississippi Supreme Court; Moot Court Board; National Black Law Students Association, Thurgood Marshall Southern Region Best Advocate. Degrees: J.D., Mississippi College School of Law; B.A., magna cum laude, Tougaloo College.
His later Castilla Impact page shortens the AFJ title to “counsel for the Bolder Advocacy Program at Alliance for Justice” and says he “coached nonprofits on strategies to maximize their advocacy capacity.” The February 10, 2022, Arabella release says he “advised nonprofits and foundations on effective advocacy and led workshops on federal nonprofit tax and campaign finance law.” Those are employer and own-site lines. Alliance for Justice’s Bolder Advocacy program is a real AFJ project. This page does not invent a client list or treat a workshop as a crime.
